Book Review: Meet Marie-Grace

I recently bought and read the new American Girl book titled Meet Marie-Grace. Marie-Grace's books are unique because they are not just about her. Every other book is about her best friend, Cecile. This is something American Girl has never done before, but I like how each book tells the same events as the last book but from a different person's viewpoint. Have you read the books? What do you think?
In Meet Marie-Grace, Marie-Grace has just moved to New Orleans with her father. She isn't sure about the new city at first, but gradually begins to find friends and make her way around. She meets an opera singer, Mademoiselle OcĂ©ane, who also teaches voice lessons. This is where Marie-Grace meets Cecile, a confident, dark-skinned girl whom Mademoiselle teaches. But Marie-Grace is shy and not sure how to act when school opens. Can she overcome her fears, make friends, and feel like she fits in to New Orleans?

The Scoop: Marcia Gay Harden

I hope you enjoy this first of many posts labeled "The Scoop" and featuring an actor from an American Girl movie! Today we'll learn about Marcia Gay Harden. She played Mrs. Merriman in the Felicity movie (which, as a matter of fact, just happens to be my favorite AG movie!!) and her daughter played Nan, Felicity's little sister.

Marcia Gay Harden was born August 14, 1959. She is both a film and theater actress. She has been in many movies and received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Pollock. She has also received a Tony Award (for a Broadway play) and has been nominated for both an Emmy Award and the Screen Actors Guild Award twice.

Harden, one of five children, moved often as a child.

She married Thaddaeus Scheel in 1996.

(pictures via; could not find any good pictures of her as Mrs. Merriman)

I think Marcia Gay Harden was the perfect person to play Felicity's caring, yet stern, mother Martha Merriman! What do you think?

Kanani

I thought that today, we'd take a look at some of Kanani's things. After all, she won't be here much longer!

First, let's look at a head shot of the doll.
I don't know about you, but I think she's absolutely gorgeous! Her hair is so long, wavy, and beautiful... just look at the color! I just love her green eyes, and her skin color is so pretty. I also like the dress she comes in.
I own both of her books, and I love them. I've always been fascinated with Hawaii--who isn't?--and the books were very well-written.
  Then there's her lu'au set...

  ... her pajamas...

  ... her party outfit...

... and of course, the monk seal Kanani rescued in her books. (Couldn't get the picture to work)
I really like all of Kanani's clothes and accessories, and I think that the doll itself is beautiful. I'd love to get Kanani, but unfortunately, time has almost run out. Maybe I can still find her on Ebay or somewhere. Does anyone keep up with and buy doll things on Ebay?

So, what do you think about Kanani?

Cozy Sweater Outfit: Photos

Today I'm going to talk about the Cozy Sweater Outfit for Dolls! It's a new outfit on American Girl.com, and I find it absolutely adorable! I think it just may be going on my Christmas list.
Isn't it cute? The pieces are:   a) A tunic sweater with a shawl collar

  b) Leggings to layer underneath the sweater

  c) Scrunchy knit boots

  d) A headband
It also includes a charm for your My American Girl's necklace.

What do you think about this outfit? Its average rating is 5 stars, and 13 out of 13 reviewers would recommend it to a friend. Sounds pretty good, huh? The general consensus of the reviews is that this outfit is adorable and looks great on almost any doll, but that the boots are very hard to get on and off. I've found that to be the case with many of American Girl's boots--they're very hard to get on and off. But still, it sounds like the rest of the outfit is great! I wish it was something they had in girl sizes!

So, what do you think about the Cozy Sweater Outfit?
